Congratulations to the winners of our Space Week 2018 Telescope Competition!

Each of the three schools will receive a Ktec telescope signed by NASA astronaut, and CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory Patron, Dan Tani.

The winners were St. Stephen’s De La Salle Mon National School in County Waterford, St. Joseph’s Christian Brother’s School in County Clare, and Moylough National School in County Sligo, and were announced by Solar Physicist, Prof Robert Walsh from the University of Central Lancashire, our special guest visitor for Science Week.

The competition was open to every school that registered a Space Week 2018 event in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Space Week 2018 was a tremendous success, with over four hundred events and 32,000 participants DOUBLING the number of participants that we had in 2017, and with events happening in every county in Ireland.

Thank you to everyone who registered an event and made Space Week 2018 such a tremendous success. We’ll be rolling out this competition again next year, and will be expanding it to include astronomy clubs, libraries and other groups, so watch this space… oh and that space *Points at sky*.
