School Tours with a difference! DOGS TRUST is Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity. Dogs Trust has six Education and Community Officers that visit primary schools across the Republic of Ireland, offering free workshops that centre on the theme of responsible dog ownership, and safety with dogs. They also offer tours of their rehoming centre, which can be a fantastic way to teach children about animal welfare, responsible dog ownership and empathy. Tours are suited to groups of all ages and ability; involve a brief history of the Dogs Trust charity, as well as a discussion on why a dog might end up in a rehoming centre, and how they might prevent this in the future. Children get to see the main rehoming corridor, which houses the majority of dogs, as well as behind the scenes e.g. walking facilities, training compounds and state of the art puppy kennels. The Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens are set in the beautiful seaside town of Tramore, County Waterford. School Tours are a speciality and tours can be customised for groups of all ages. The gardens have a wonderful and unique story to tell around the life journey of Lafcadio Hearn a very famous writer who spent his childhood summers in Tramore and whose stories are still told to school children in Japan today. School Tours at THE HUNT MUSEUM LIMERICK are fun filled, interactive and always curriculum linked. Their changing temporary exhibitions offer exciting opportunities for pupils to learn about visual art while collection focused workshops cover many different time periods, themes and materials. THE DONKEY SANCTUARY in Liscarroll is just 15 minutes from Mallow and home to hundreds of friendly, cuddly donkeys. BALLYHASS LAKES ACTIVITY CENTRE added Ireland's largest cable wakeboarding facility last season and it has gone from strength to strength.
