This Easter holidays, there are daily Castle tours and Planetarium shows at Blackrock Castle Observatory – in the iconic Cork landmark dated from 1582. Visits include entry to Journeys of Exploration and Cosmos at the Castle. Journeys of Exploration is a new interactive experience through the heart of the Castle telling the story of Cork’s defended landscape, merchant trade, and smugglers and pirates. The story is told in audio and guided experiences at the 16th century fort while touring the gunnery, riverside terrace and towers. Cosmos at the Castle is an award-winning exhibition of extreme life forms on Earth and their implications for life in outer space. This self-guiding experience allows visitors to browse hours of cosmic content at their leisure or take a whirlwind tour of the Universe! Open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm, a visit to Blackrock Castle Observatory includes entrance to the science centre, a guided history tour of the Castle and a planetarium show on the night sky. 10am – 5pm.
