SUMMER CAMPS 2015

Those long school summer holidays are approaching and thankfully there are plenty of local summer camps to be found in Primary Times Leinster to help out the months ahead so children can leave the parents at home, gain some independence have fresh experiences… and meet new friends!

Kids Bricks Clubs are creative brick building and social activity clubs for girls and boys taking place in primary schools, Montessori schools, crèches, community centres, libraries and play centres. Suitable for children aged 3-12 years, Kids Bricks Clubs are run as Saturday workshops, parties and after school clubs and are an ideal way for children to develop their imagination and social skills.    They are now also offering week long summer camps with brick building, challenges and games.

The Kings Hospital Summer Camp is now taking bookings. This action packed camp includes the following activities: karate, swimming, athletics, soccer, tennis, basketball, archery, orienteering, hockey, tag rugby as well as some fun and games! All activities will take place on campus in their highly equipped facilities. If you are looking for something different in a camp this summer then The Craft Corner has what you need.  The numbers are kept small so each child gets individual attention; the projects are diverse, challenging and fun. At Craft Corner, they believe that teaching your children crafts from a young age gives them a confidence in their ability to think independently. The craft projects are designed to enable the children to create in their own way and let their imagination take hold.  This year they are based around the themes of recycling, unusual uses for ordinary materials, linking art and craft. Exploring different mediums such as printing, dyeing, painting techniques, decoupage, clay and lots more. There will be group projects, outdoor activities (weather permitting) and free crafting periods each day. Camps are suitable for ages 5+ and run 10am – 2pm daily  €95/child (€90 for each additional child). Back by popular demand, the Drogheda Leisure Park Multi-Activity Kids’ Summer Camps and F.A.I Summer soccer schools are taking place again in July and August this year and are sure to have something to suit the kids during these long summer months.

Cookery and Art Camp.

This year we have another cookery and art camp from Anne Marie Tobin. The theme is Mad Hatters Tea Party. The children will be making celebration cakes, home made pink lemonade, fruit skewers and dainty sandwiches as well as painting a porcelain Tea-set and papier-mâché mad hatters hats. Camps are limited to 12 people. Anne Marie is a youth arts facilitator with N. Y. C. I. and has worked with Annabel Karmel on her children's T.V. cookery series "Annabel’s Kitchen."

The Institute of Education

Get the key learning skills to succeed in second level! The Institute Camp is a five day academic course designed to increase knowledge, understanding and confidence in Maths and English for students entering 1st and 2nd year in school. Taught by experienced and skilled teachers from The Institute of Education, the camp is designed to strengthen the basics in both subjects and introduce students to the core skills and techniques they will need to succeed in both subjects at Junior Cycle level.

Students develop hands-on learning techniques and are encouraged to gain confidence in their problem solving and communication skills through a series of practical exercises and focused assignments.
