Ireland's No. 1 FREE magazines for parents & teachers of primary school children
Inland Fisheries Ireland and the Blackrock Education Centre are running a national poetry competition aimed at 5th and 6th class primary school students in Ireland. It is an opportunity for students to get creative at home and learn more about fish.
There are lots of fun and interactive resources available on www.somethingfishy.ie, to help inspire budding poets. The topic for the poem is ‘Let’s Fish’ and it is to be five lines long. Only one entry is permitted per student and it is to be original work. The closing date for entries is the 29th of May 2020. Parents/ Guardians are being asked to email the entry to outreach@fisheriesireland.ie and to include the student’s name, class (5th or 6th) and school name and address. The entries will be divided into two categories: 5th class in one category and 6th class in the other. The winning poems will be chosen by a panel of judges.
Winners will be announced on Friday the 12th of June 2020 and the prizes are as follows:
Two Categories- 5th and 6th class
1st prize- €100 (voucher)
2nd prize- €50 (voucher)
3rd prize- €25 (voucher)
