Fota Wildlife Park, part of the Zoological Society of Ireland, is set on 100 acres on the scenic Fota Island in the heart of Cork Harbour and its vision is to inspire people to understand and conserve the biodiversity of our natural world.
. Fota Wildlife Park features the recently opened Asian Sanctuary—with Asian lions, Sumatran tigers, Indian rhino, Warty pigs, Visayan spotted deer, Lion-tailed macaques and Red panda. The Cheetah Run and the Tropical house - with its butterflies, reptiles, amphibians and tropical fish - are also must-sees. The development of the Asian Sanctuary over the past six years has enhanced the Park as an iconic international visitor attraction as well as serving the core values of conservation, education, and research.
Fota Wildlife Park runs several events and activities during the busy summer season. These include daily feeding times and wildlife talks, face painting and arts and crafts, as well as educational themed weekends such as the Native Species Weekend, Mad Scientist Weekend and Bug Bonanza.
Fota Wildlife Park’s award-winning education centre can host over 350 students per day through its formal education programmes which are catered to both primary and secondary schools. Close to 15,500 students pass through the gates every year and the education programmes and guided school tours makes it one of the biggest educational tour providers in Ireland.
