Firkin Crane is delighted to announce the appointment of Fearghus Ó Conchúir as curator of the our artistic programme. Fearghus is one of Ireland’s leading independent choreographers, whose work has been presented in the US, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. He has a long relationship with the Firkin Crane, having first worked here as a dancer in 1997. Earlier this year, he created his latest work Starlight especially for the Firkin Crane as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival.

Speaking of his appointment, Fearghus said: ‘I am looking forward very much to working with the Firkin Crane team to find more opportunities for professionals, audiences and enthusiasts to make, see and join in a wide range of high quality dance. The Firkin Crane is such an important resource for Cork and for the whole dance ecology in Ireland, I want to make sure we’re using its wonderful potential to support and share inspiring dance experiences.’

While taking on this part-time curatorial role, Fearghus will continue to develop his own choreography, in particular Cure, a new production for the Dublin Dance Festival in 2013.
