A heritage narrow gauge railway follows over 6km of the route of the abandoned Waterford -Dungarvan line. The track runs mostly along the picturesque banks of the River Suir between Kilmeaden and Waterford offering panoramic views of the River Suir, rolling farmland and mountains. Only a short distance from Tramore - this makes Waterford & Suir Valley Heritage Railway a perfect school tour option.
The rolling stock includes a restored Simplex 60sp locomotive with a Perkins diesel engine and two Edwardian style carriages.
The round trip takes approximately 40 minutes.
Directions:
From Waterford take the N25 for 6 miles to Kilmeadan Village. Drive through the village. Take a right turn for Carrick-on-Suir onto the R680. The entrance to the station is one mile up this road on the left.
